Do you ever look at glass art or sculptures and wonder who was the first person who started making all this. Well this post covers that for you. The Father of Glass Art – Dale Chihuly. The man who made glass sculptures and art work so famous, that now the whole world knows glass art.
He was born to be an artist, with no interest in formal education. However he still graduated high school. He learnt how to melt and fuse glass in 1961, when he was just 20 years old.
EARLY CAREER – THE FATHER
Chihuly learnt all the fundamentals related to glass blowing in less than 10 years. By 1971, when he was 30 years old, he prepared planning on starting an art school. A few years later he met with a fatal road accident. Having lost an eye, Dale did not stop glass blowing. Again he dislocated his shoulder, when out surfing.
THE LATER STAGES
By 1983, Chihuly was not able to hold the blow pipe. Because physical health did not allow him to work any further, he hired other people to work on his behalf. Later in 2006, at an interview, Chihuly revealed that taking the back seat allowed him to observe things which he never did before. He further states that the back seat gave him. the opportunity to identify mistake way before it even happens.
THE FUTURE OF GLASS ART
Although we have the father of glass art – Dale, it is highly necessary for the future generation to carry forward his legacy. Ensuring that the generations to come also have an opportunity to witness this magnificent art work.
