The Sint Petrus en Pauluskerk Cathedral was built in Ostend, Belgium this church is actually built on the ashes of an old church. King Leopold had high enthusiasm for the construction of this cathedral. The expansion work for improving the majestic look of the cathedral began in 1899. The cathedral was consecrated by Bishop Wafflelart in 1908.
However, the stained glass windows in Sint Petrus en Pauluskerk Cathedral were completely destroyed during the World Wars. These were later replaced by windows by Michael Martens. The overall design resembles a Neo-Gothic style taking inspiration from Cologne Cathedral and Neo-Gothic Votivkirche in Vienna.
The unusual style of glass paintings serves as an architectural marvel in the modern city. This is one such cathedral to visit for the experience. Words fall short of describing this marvel.
