India is a land of diverse artwork. There is so much to explore in this majestic country. The stained glass in india is another example of the diversity. Although most of the stained glass pieces are in old cathedral and mosques, there are a few contemporary places too that boast stained glass art work.
Recently a church in Pune, celebrated a grand event. It was to mark the 225th year of a stained glass artwork. Those glass artworks were actually of Indian origin.
This news made public headlines throughout the world.
A combination of Indian Christians and Portugese nationals together brought the cathedral to life. This is by far still the best stained glass in India
Heritage Of Stained Glass In India
The St. Thomas Cathedral in Bombay boasts of famous stained glass in India. The heat and dust soothes the population of the wonderful light creating shadows. Briefly, the main focus of attraction are the 3 pieces. Installations on the Eastern wall brings in the best reflection of sunlight. There were minimal provision for having stained glass windows at the time of construction. Therefore, these few collections have established themselves as the most enviablle collection.
A few pieces were indegenously painted in India. And there were some pieces which were brought in from different place of the world. Overall this provides the worshipers a moment of awe for the beauty.
There are planty other cathedrals and mosques in the country which boasts of such magnificant pieces. It is truly a delight to the eyes.

There are multiple ways to get inspiration when it comes to stained glass in India. Overall it is easy to find staind glasses in different parts of the country. Look for inspirations around you, or just make on for yourself.
